BMB 101 - Branding Bootcamp

In collaboration with

Freetown Business School in collaboration with Cordaid brings you a Branding Bootcamp that will turn entrepreneurs, marketing professionals, and graduates into Branding Bosses.

Effective branding and marketing has been signalled as a barrier to the growth of Sierra Leonean businesses at home and abroad, and the first step in creating an effective branding ecology from which Sierra Leonean businesses can benefit, is to create people who have the knowledge and the skills to build them.

Good branding will give your customers a reason to care about your brand, your business, and your products and will get them to see you as the sole provider of a solution to their problem or need. Branding and marketing are often used interchangeably but they are different. Branding drives reputation, marketing drives sales. Marketing unearths and activates buyers. Branding makes loyal customers, advocates, and even ambassadors out of those who buy. Branding makes for better marketing.

During this six (6) day intensive training and assessment programme, selected participants will be transformed into Branding Bosses that possess the professional skills and expertise in effective marketing and branding processes, and unemployed participants who make it through the end of the programme will be supported in finding employment.

The “Branding Bootcamp” curriculum and course materials have been developed by The Brandling (a leading international marketing and branding firm based in East Africa – www.the-brandling.com).

Who should attend this course?

Entrepreneurs, marketing professionals, graduates

Why a "Branding Bootcamp"?

A key objective of the Freetown Business School is to develop local content by providing development opportunities for Young Professionals in Sierra Leone.  In so doing, we will be reducing the overheads of companies who in the past would tend to use expensive foreign talents “Expats” to meet their marketing needs. This model is not only expensive but continue to leave a gap in the local market.

This rapid skills development and assessment program provides:

a. Capacity building – To train “Branding Bosses” in the use of effective marketing in the Sierra Leone context and as such contribute to the development of the local businesses.

b. Assessment – To assess the quality and provide a benchmark for the recruitment of a good marketing professional.

c. Improved marketing capacity to leverage the marketing process to increase revenues among small & medium sized businesses; and improve economic growth in Sierra Leone.

Program Design

The course curriculum and materials have been designed to fit the Sierra Leone context. An extensive research was undertaken to gauge the state of affairs of marketing in the country including speaking to various marketing and business executives about their experiences in the industry.

Therefore, the program designed has focused on Practical and Effective (“lean”) marketing processes with the following objectives:

a. Something a Marketing Professional can
refer to at all times to assure better outcomes
for clients.

b. Builds confidence with Marketing
