BAF101 - Regulations, Fraud and Forgeries

Fraud and forgeries have become a serious concern for banks all across the world and Sierra Leone is no exception. This problem is considered significant given the role of the banking sector in the country’s economic growth and development. Therefore, creating awareness about fraud and embedding anti-fraud procedures in your bank has significant impact on its sustainability and growth.

 

The increase in the incidences of fraud has led to loss of income, weakening of trust amongst employees and also affected the credibility and integrity of the banking industry. The need to prevent, detect and investigate fraud cases in banks is therefore crucial.

 

Participating Banks will have at their disposal staff that are equipped with critical skills and knowledge and are exposed to modern techniques in detecting and investigating frauds. The training is practical with case studies designed to give participants a clear idea of real-world fraud issues and how investigative techniques can be deployed to nail the fraudsters and determine the extent and exact nature of the fraud.

  • Report Writing and Articulation.

Who should attend the course:

Internal Auditors, Accountants, Risk Officers, Finance Officers, Compliance Officers, Heads of Risk Management, Heads of Operations, Heads of Legal Department and Heads of Regulatory Compliance of banks; and Senior Government Officials from the Bank of Sierra Leone, Anti-Corruption Commission and Financial Intelligence Unit.
