SCM101 – The Overarching Principles of Supply Chain Management – A Crisis Perspective

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the story of links and flows of goods and services within a company or an organisation. In the past thirty (30) years, SCM has advanced from an indeterminate notion to an intrinsic business need. This course delves into the fundamental principles of SCM both conceptually and in practical terms and re-examines procedure while rethinking strategy to adapt principle into smart practice in crises – such as the one we find ourselves in 2020.

Course Objectives: On completion, you will be able to:

  • Identify and eventually apply the fundamental principles of SCM.
  • Relate the principles to procedure and process.
  • Evaluate the importance of the. SCM principles.
  • Adapt the key principles into strategic action.
  • Employ key SCM tactics for crisis situations.
  • Match principle with the process.
  • Recognise value in the supply chain process.
